Competing at the 25th Sanssouci Pokal Championship in Potsdam

The competition was organised by Olympischer Sportclub Potsdam e. V., Abt. Moderner Fünfkampf. For the first time, the Republic of Moldova was represented at a youth competition with its most complete team ever: cadets from every age group took part.

Traditionally, this event attracts the best juniors and cadets from sports clubs in Germany and Austria. It is a good opportunity for both experienced and very young athletes to test themselves in a modern Olympic sports complex.

The Moldovan athletes were unable to repeat the success of previous years and this time came home without medals, finishing mid-table in the final standings after a hard-fought contest. The reasons include both changes to the competition format and the athletes' fatigue after a long journey. Nevertheless, the athletes gained invaluable experience competing against strong opponents in difficult weather conditions.
