Asian Open Modern Pentathlon Championships

The Asian Open Modern Pentathlon Championships concluded on 26 October in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan. The programme included individual and team events, as well as relays (men's, women's and mixed). In addition to the open category, medals were also contested in the boys' and girls' Group “A” (under 18) events.

On 21 October, during his first visit to Kyrgyzstan, UIPM President Klaus Schormann took part in a tree-planting ceremony in memory of the founder of modern pentathlon, Baron Pierre de Coubertin. Planting a tree is a long-standing tradition of Dr Schormann's, and the Modern Pentathlon Training Centre in Cholpon-Ata was chosen as the venue for the ceremony.
