Alice and the Princess Tournament
On Sunday, 6 May, the Republican Specialized School of Equestrian Sport and Modern Pentathlon hosted a grand theatrical equestrian show, “Alice and the Princess Tournament” (Alice și turnirul prințeselor).
The event was built around a storyline in which the fairy-tale heroine Alice, chasing after a rabbit, finds herself at a tournament of princesses from various fairy tales.
The princesses on horseback, students of the Republican Specialized School of Equestrian Sport and Modern Pentathlon, competed in show jumping, that is, in clearing obstacles.
The script and staging of the riders' performance involved theatrical participation by actors, students of the Ginta Latină theater and students of the Equestrian School. The director's theatrical concept, brought to life in this production and combined with the work of the actors, lighting technicians and sound engineers, as well as the riders' sporting performance, came together in such harmony that the audience, which turned out in numbers never before seen at this School, watched the event spellbound, never feeling that the program was divided into sporting and artistic parts.
In all, 30 horses and 28 riders took part in the event. The youngest equine performer, the colt Bagration, will turn 2 months old in a few days.
Spectators at the Princess Tournament were amazed by the scale and artistic quality of the program's theatrical staging.
As announced at the end of the program, the director of this show, which impressed everyone, was Ana-Maria Ciubotaru. Composer: Alexandru Dicusar.
Some of the program's audio tracks feature studio recordings by students of the Equestrian School and were performed by them.
To close the program, the School's students performed an equestrian cotillion to the “Viennese Waltz”, with about 30 riders taking part.
The Modern Pentathlon Federation thanks the organizers and participants of the event, the creative teams, and the program's composer and director.
